El Al plane nearly loaded with military cargo

Israeli airline's security guards prevent military equipment from being loaded into El Al aircraft scheduled to leave Toronto
Aviel Magnezi |
El Al security guards prevented military equipment from being loaded into an airline aircraft meant to depart from Toronto, Canada.
El Al said in response, "Any cargo flown by El Al is subject to a security check in accordance with strict security rules."
It appears the incident was not connected to a terrorist attack but in fact pertains to unreported baggage which was meant to serve foreign forces operating in the Middle East.
"Cargo containing military components bound for Tel Aviv was detected yesterday," a Toronto police source told Ynet.
"The cargo was checked and it was revealed it contained military equipment which was meant to be transferred with no intent to hurt anyone."
Toronto Police estimated that the element who wished to transfer the cargo was not aware of the sensitivity of the matter and meant no harm.
