Palestinian officials said Sunday that an Israeli strike has killed one and wounded five in western Gaza.
According to the sources, two large explosions were heard in the Strip after an Israeli navy boat apparently fired at a Hamas trainingground at Gaza City's north.
Gaza Hospital official Adham Abu Salmia confirms one dead and five wounded, one critically.
The Israeli military, however, said it was Air Force jets which struck a Qassam cell readying to fire at Israeli targets.
The incident comes as Israeli-Palestinian peace talks are at a standstill. The sides are trying to find a compromise on Israeli settlement building that will allow the month-old talks to continue.
According to Shin Bet data, there has been an increase in fire incidents from Gaza: Sixteen rockets and 23 mortar shells were fired at Israel in 30 separate incidents throughout September.
