An Israeli citizen was killed Sunday in the northern IDF base of Elyakim after being hit by a rifle bullet. The man, an employee of a company working with the Defense Ministry, was apparently hurt while performing an arms inspection.
A Magen David Adom unit was called to the scene where it pronounced the victim dead.

It remains unclear who will lead the investigation into the incident as the case involves both a military facility and a civilian casualty. The IDF said that the incident is civilian in nature and has nothing to do with military activity.
Last July, an IDF soldier was mildly hurt during a Givati Brigade training session in the Golan Heights. The soldier was shot in the back as a result of friendly fire.
