Protests held in Tel Aviv, north against judicial reform

Demonstrations were held on Saturday night for the 19th week in a row against the government's judicial overhaul. The organizers of the weekly protests had announced in advance that it would not erect a central stage or have any planned speeches due to Operation Shield and Arrow. But thousands of protesters gathered at Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv and marched to Kaplan Street. Protests also were held in the north, including a 5,000-person rally in Haifa and smaller protest rallies at other sites. "There is no democracy, there are no unicorns," read one poster in Tel Aviv, a reference to the song being performed Saturday night by Israeli pop star Noa Kirel at the Eurovision finals. (Ynet)
