Israeli runner Aymro Almaya impressed with a fourth-place finish in the marathon at the World Championships in Tokyo, with a time of 2:10:03. His teammate Gashau Ayale completed an excellent Israeli performance by placing seventh. The marathon was decided by a rare photo finish, as Tanzania's Alphonce Simbu overtook Germany's Amanal Petros at the finish line.
