Israel updated the U.S. upfront of its intention to declare six Palestinian human rights groups to be “terror organizations” on Friday, saying that they had effectively operated as an arm for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terror group, however, the information did not reach the State Department, a government official told Ynet on Saturday.
The statement came following U.S. State Department Spokesman Ned Price making remarks Friday night alluding differently.
The official said that "this was a malfunction of the Americans" and that "the speaker's response was disproportionate."
In contacts between Jerusalem and Washington, it was agreed that Washington would issue a correction.
