Former UN rights chief Navi Pillay will lead a UN inquiry into "systematic" abuses in Israel and the Palestinian territories, it was announced on Thursday.
The president of the UN Human Rights Council said Pillay would lead the probe that was triggered during a special session of the council focused on the surge in deadly violence between Israelis and Palestinians in May.
