Deputy Foreign Minister Idan Roll said Sunday that the United States knows that Israel opposes a U.S. consulate in East Jerusalem for Palestinian Affairs.
"The Americans understand the political complexity around the issue, they understand the sensitivity around it and the issue is being addressed," said Roll, who also referred to the condemnation by the U.S. of Defense Minister Benny Gantz's decision to designate six Palestinian civilian organizations as terrorist organizations.
"There is no political issue here, there is joint work by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Shin Bet and other ministries... This is intelligence-based work done in a coordinated manner, and we are all in agreement on this issue.
