Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked on Saturday renewed the stay of exit of a controversial sheikh, further extending the prohibition on him leaving the country.
Sheikh Raed Salah — the religious leader of the outlawed Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel who has served previously served prison sentences for inciting terror against Israelis among other charges — will be barred from leaving the country until September 13 due to security concerns.
Shaked stated her decision to extend the order comes amid risk Salah would go abroad "to promote the affairs of the Northern Branch, and to create an organizational activity interface with terrorist organizations."
