Omicron COVID morbidity will reach its peak within a week or two and then it will begin its descend, a senior health expert said on Wednesday.
Israel reached some 40,000 confirmed COVID cases, but Prof. Eran Segal, a scientist advising the government on its pandemic response and creator of the Weizmann Institute of Science's coronavirus prediction model, is certain the number is much higher.
"In my estimation, we've already passed 100,000 infected per day, according to studies in London, the number of people infected in each country is three to four times the number of confirmed COVID cases, so one in every 15 people in Israel today may be infected."
"At the peak of the morbidity, I think, two million Israelis will be infected, and in total, between two and four million."
