Any attempt to rescue or open a dialogue regarding the thousands of Ethiopian Jews waiting in refugee camps to make Aliyah to Israel could lead to political fallout with the Ethiopian authorities and possibly endanger those waiting as a brutal civil war rages in the African nation, a classified National Security Council document claimed.
Aliyah and Integration Minister Pnina Tamano Shata lambasted the report as an attempt to "torpedo the rescue of the rest of Ethiopian Jewry."
