Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked reacted to Yair Lapid’s intentions to support a two-state solution with Palestinians in his speech in the UN General Assembly on Thursday: "Lapid is speaking for himself and not in the name of the Israeli government.
"He decided to throw out a void slogan on a Palestinian state as part of an election campaign. Netanyahu has done the same in the past," she said.
Shaked added that the alternative to a Palestinian state would be to grant citizenship to Palestinian residents in areas C.
"If we apply Israeli law to C territory, then everyone who is in that area will have rights, and whoever doesn't want to - no need. Its better off that way."
