Israeli hospitals were treating 720 severe cases of COVID-19, 490 of which were recorded among unvaccinated patients — accounting for almost 70% of all severe cases, the Health Ministry reported Sunday night.
On top of them, 148 severe cases were recorded among the twice-vaccinated and another 57 among patients who have received a booster shot. The vaccination status of other serious patients was unclear.
Of the seriously ill, 196 patients were connected to ventilators.
Meanwhile, 4,931 Israelis have tested positive for coronavirus out of some 95,000 tests carried out since midnight, putting the country's infection rate at 5.3%.
