Tzipi Livni has been a Knesset member representing the Likud party since 1999.

 

She has served on the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee and the Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Women.

 

In the government of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, she was appointed Immigrant Absorption Minister and acting Minister of Housing and Construction.

 

Her prior ministerial roles include Minister of Regional Cooperation, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Minister of Immigration and Absorption.

 

Prior to being elected to the Knesset, Livni's had a position with the Mossad Intelligence Service and served as Director General of Government Companies Authority.

 

In 2004 she won the Champion of Good Government Award.

 

Livni was born in Israel in 1958. She has a law degree from Bar Ilan University and is married with two children.
