'Sharon responsible for incitement’
Knesset Member Effie Eitam slams prime minister before being kicked out of Knesset decision
JERUSALEM - National Religious Party Knesset Member Effie Eitam was kicked out of a Knesset debate after charging Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with incitement.
“The prime minister doesn’t like to hear criticism,” Eitam said as he was removed from a Knesset Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee session.
Earlier, Sharon slammed what he said was “terrible, awful incitement.”
The remarks follow recent revelations about escalating threats on Knesset members and other public officials viewed as supporting the Gaza pullout plan.
Eitam no longer party chairman
National Union Knesset Member Arieh Eldad also criticized Sharon and said he was guilty of incitement.
“The prime minister used the committee as a platform for reckless incitement against the national camp in its entirety,” he said.
Earlier, it was reported that Eitam was suspended from his position as NRP chairman, in light of his decision to quit the coalition and his violations of party institutions’ decisions.
The decision was made by the faction’s courts, which accepted petitions by party central committee members.
