Hizbullah attack on the north
In the most severe coordinated attack launched by Hizbullah since the IDF's withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000, 12 civilians and soldiers were injured, among them an officer and soldier who sustained moderate injuries.
The attack began close to 15:00 in the afternoon, when a heavy barrage of mortars and Kaytusha rockets was fired at IDF positions on Mount Dov, the village of Rajar, and the surrounding area.
The residents of Kiryat Shmona, Metula, Nahariya, and surrounding regions were ordered into bomb shelters for the first time since the 2000 withdrawal.
In response the Air Force launched strikes on Hizbullah positions in southern Lebanon where the mortar and rocket fire came from.
