Shfaram protest: Many stood behind Natan Zada

MK Zahalka joins thousands of Shfaram residents in protest march against seven suspects thought to be linked to Jewish terror attack last year

Shfaram's Popular Committee has organized a large protest march against the arrest of seven city residents, suspected of taking part in the lynch of Jewish terrorist Eden Natan Zada.

Businesses in the city were closed Thursday morning and schools did not open, with the exception of classes preparing for end of high school examinations.

In the afternoon hours, a procession left from the protest tent set up near the municipality building, passing the Muslim and Druze neighborhood, to the place where the terror attack took place last year.

Around 1,000 children, teenagers, and adults took part in the parch, including Knesset Members Muhammad Barakeh and Jamal Zahalka.

Slogans heard during the march called for unity between the three religious groups in Shfaram, Muslims, Druze, and Christians.

'We'll redeem the martyr'

The father of one of those arrested, Haytam Herev, said that the protesters proved that the city's unity was unstoppable, and would eventually bring about the release of the suspects.

In addition, youths called out pro-Palestinian nationalistic slogans, such as "with our spirit and our blood we'll redeem the martyr."

MK Zahlaka called for an investigation to expose who was behind the act of the soldier responsible for the shooting attach in which four civilians were murdered.

He said that there were those who financed and trained Natan Zada, and sent him to carry out the shooting.

"Maybe only one person murdered, but many took part and stood behind the killing," MK Zahlaka said.
