An Israeli businessman was found dead in front of his apartment block over the weekend in Plantation, Florida.
Yaaqov Lankry, 29, was shot dead outside his home on Saturday night in an apparent attempted robbery, his family said.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed that it is seeking to fly his body to Israel.
Plantation Police received a call from locals reporting a shooting outside the housing complex and identified a man wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and baggy jeans running from the area.
Police don't know if the shooting was random or planned, and are looking for more witnesses.
Lankry's friends described him an observant Jew. Neighbors said that on the night of the shooting he was returning home carrying a large sum of cash.
