Troops shoot at Palestinian trying to approach IDF pillbox

Israel Defense Force troops near Hebron shot a Palestinian who tried bypass a gate and approach an IDF pillbox, Friday night. Palestinian sources reported that he was severely injured and later died of his wounds.  A subsequent investigation revealed that he had been unarmed.

 

According to the IDF, soldiers sitting in the pillbox identified a Palestinian trying to breach the gate. The Palestinian did not stop although the soldiers shouted at him to do so and fired warning shots into the air.

 

Finally, they shot at the Palestinian, hitting him. He was transferred to a nearby hospital in Hebron by Red Crescent forces.

 

Friday morning, IDF forces in the West Bank arrested three wanted operatives from the Tanzim and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PLFP).

 

During operations in Nablus, soldiers gave chase to a vehicle containing for wanted operatives, the IDF reported. During the case, they shot at the vehicle, injuring one of the operatives.

 

The other three operatives at first holed up in a structure and were caught when trying to escape. They were transferred to security forces for questioning. No soldiers were injured in the chase.

 

The IDF reported that the four operatives in the vehicle had previously opened fire at IDF forces and had been planning attacks to be carried out within Israel.
