Israeli ministers will now have the option of being driven in a German-made car after Audi, along with Skoda, won the tender to provide a fleet of cars for government ministers and other senior State officials.
Ministers will have the choice of either an Audi 6 or Skoda Superb when they replace their Volvo, which for decades has been the government's choice of car for ministers and top officials.
This is the first time that the government has broken the post-Holocaust taboo of purchasing German cars for official use.
