The Book of Life project wishes to increase the amount of Israelis who sign organ-donor cards, by calling on those coming to Yom Kippur services in Reform synagogues to sign up.
As part of ADI's efforts to enhance public awareness, Reform Movement rabbis have agreed to stress the importance of saving lives through organ donations in their sermons.
ADI plans to distribute 15,000 information leaflets through Reform synagogues, as well as to station booths in their vicinity – at Yom Kippur's closing prayers – so those who wish to sign donor cards, would be able to do so.
Ynet, the Hebrew sister-site of Ynetnews, is also running a campaign to encourage Israelis to carry a donor card.
