Noam Zur is making moves

Crowned conductor

Israeli conductor Noam Zur appointed principal resident conductor of opera house and philharmonic orchestra of Essen, Germany; and he's only 26 years old

Israeli conductor Noam Zur, 26, has officially been appointed as the principal resident conductor of the Aalto Theatre opera house and the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany. Zur will commence work in the position in August of next year.

 

At the young age of 26, Zur can boast of a successful international career serving as conductor at venues such as: the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the symphony orchestras of Munich and Bochum, and the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

Zur has also conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and the Ashdod Chamber Orchestra.

 

During the last two years, Zur has served as principal resident conductor for the Heidelberg Philharmonic Orchestra. Most recently, he served as an assistant to the modernist maestro and composer Pierre Boulez.

 

In recent days, Zur has been conducting the opera of La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini in Essen and in April he will be conducting the Essen orchestra in a production of Tosca also by the known Italian composer.
