A moderate earthquake has shaken a remote swath of the Mojave Desert. The US Geological Survey said a 4.2-magnitude quake struck shortly before 7:00 pm Tuesday, near the San Bernardino County town of Ludlow, about 120 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

San Bernardino County fire dispatch supervisor Jaime Vilches says his department has received no reports of damage or injuries. (AP)
