Gaza: Islamic Jihad operative killed in IDF strike

Four additional Palestinians wounded as IAF targets weaponry manufacturing workshop in southern Gaza Strip. Since early morning hours 13 Qassam rockets have been fired towards Israel

Israel responds to Qassam attacks: An Islamic Jihad operative was killed and four additional Palestinians were wounded early Wednesday evening in an IDF strike against a workshop in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Palestinian sources have identified the man killed as Awad al-Qiq, a member of the al-Quds Brigades, the organization's military wing.

The IDF confirmed the strike had taken place and said the IAF targeted a weaponry manufacturing facility.

One of those wounded is said to be in serious condition and has lost one of his legs.

Despite an announcement earlier in the day by several Palestinian factions, assembled for talks in Cairo, that they accept the Egyptian truce proposal – some 13 Qassam rockets have been fired towards Israel.

"All the Palestinian factions have agreed to the Egyptian proposal on a truce with Israel," Egyptian state

agency MENA said, citing an unnamed high-level Egyptian official.

The official said the Egyptian proposal included a "comprehensive, reciprocal and simultaneous truce, implemented in a graduated framework starting in the Gaza Strip and then subsequently moving to the West Bank," MENA added.
