Teacher suspected of sex with student put under house arrest
Suspect denies allegations of affair with 17-year-old student, says other pupil fabricated story
The teacher accused of having sex with one of her students was released by the Rishon Lezion Magistrate court on Friday and placed under a six-day house arrest.
The teacher denied the allegations against her, and claimed that one of her female students fabricated the whole story.
The teacher, a resident of the central city of Rehovot, was arrested after information reaching the school's management was passed on to the police. After the arrest was made, the 17-year-old student who the teacher allegedly had sex with was also questioned.

In her investigation, the teacher claimed that the allegations were false, but a police representative at her court hearing claimed that there was evidence that the two conducted an intimate relationship. The police investigation so far revealed that the teacher gave the student in question and another female student extra lesson outside of the regular school day.
The teacher's lawyer, Advocate Avi Grichtman, claimed the female student is the one who made up the affair, which he insisted has no truth to it.
"All my client wanted to do was look out for the students. After all, if it weren't for the teacher, the students would have dropped out and would not be in an academic framework," said Grichtman.
During her investigation, the teacher was accused of taking the student to the beach and to a guest house, where she had sex with him. The initial complaint against the teacher was made by her school's management after rumors of the forbidden affair circulated throughout the school for the past few months.
Police are now trying to locate other students who know of the affair and would be able to help in the investigation.
