Shirly Brener goes to Hollywood
Israeli actress to star opposite 'Heroes' celebrity Shalim Ortiz in 'Touched', a film directed by Dan Neira
Israeli actress Shirly Brener has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Hollywood movie 'Touched', opposite Shalim Ortiz of the hit show 'Heroes' and Loretta Devine. The movie, currently in production, is directed by Dan Neira.
Also competing for the part was Alicia Witt, who got her break starring as Cybill Shepherd's daughter on the '90s sitcom 'Cybill'.
The movie tells the story of Monica, played by Brener, who is a 16-year old plagued with schizophrenia. She becomes an abusive mother who physically and emotionally abuses her daughter for 14 years.
Brener, 31, is married to interior designer Bruce Rubenstein. She also has a 3-year old daughter, Mila. She is a producer and a model as well as an actress.
In February an Israeli movie featuring Brener is scheduled to premier. 'Honor', starring Zeev Revach and directed by Haim Bouzaglo, tells the story of two contending crime families. Brener plays an undercover cop who disguises herself as Revach's fitness instructor.
