The High Court of Justice's decision to permit left-wing activists to wave Palestinian flags during a protest planned for Saturday in Tel Aviv has extracted numerous criticisms, and one lawyer decided to plan a corresponding protest in which Israeli flags will be raised.
Attorney Guy Ofir appealed to the police on Friday in order to receive their approval for his demonstration, intended to support the residents of the south. He summoned other civilians to join him with Israeli flags in tow.

Following pressure exerted by High Court, police decide to reverse decision not to okay march against Gaza op if participants wave PA flags
"As a leftist, I feel that the protestors are crossing the line by waving enemy flags," Ofir told Ynet. "We must protest their conduct with a counter-demonstration supporting Israel and the residents of the south."
The left-wing protest has been scheduled for Saturday at 6 pm, beginning in Rabin Square and ending in the city's Cinematek. Ofir's protest has been scheduled for the same time, and will proceed through the streets adjacent to Rabin Square.
The police initially said they would ban Saturday's demonstration if participants were to wave PA flags, but changed its stance following pressure exerted by the Supreme Court.
The hearing was held after leftist organizations petitioned the court saying they had no way to ensure that such flags would not be raised in the rally.
