State to High Court: Reject petition against Lieberman's appointment as FM

The State Prosecutor's Office responded to the High Court of Justice regarding the Movement for Quality Government in Israel's petition to prevent Yisrael Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman's appointment as deputy prime minister and foreign minister.
The State said the petition should be rejected, since the issues it raises are public and political issues, but not legal ones. "The appointment of a man as a senior minister at a time when a criminal investigation is being held against him could raise serious public questions, but at this point these questions have no legal weight."
