Rose's grandfather reenacts murder

Prosecution screens before court video of Ronny Ron's reenactment of his granddaughter's murder. 'Even if the court forgives me, and my wife forgives me and Rose's sisters forgive me, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. I'm in prison for the rest of my life,' he says

A video documenting Ronny Ron's reenactment of the murder of his granddaughter Rose Pizam was screened at the Tel Aviv District Court on Tuesday as part of the prosecution's evidence in the murder trial against Ron and his wife, Rose's mother Marie Charlotte Renault.

In the video Ron is seen standing on the bank of the Yarkon River, where he claimed to have thrown the suitcase in which he placed Rose's body. Both Ron and Pizam broke into tears during the screening.

During the reenactment Ron told investigators that Rose was sitting in the backseat of the car when he gave her a waffle to eat. "She said in French, 'disgusting, disgusting,' she said it about the food, not about me, she didn't mean it in a bad way, she's a girl, her soul is pure," said Ron.

At this point Ron said he slapped her, in order to quiet her down: "I didn't want to bring her to her mother upset." Several minutes later he began realizing that something was wrong with Rose. After riding the car for several more minutes he pulled over to check on Rose, at which point he discovered that she was not responding.

In the video Ron says in tears, "Even if the court forgives me, and my wife forgives me and Rose's sisters forgive me, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself. I'm in prison for the rest of my life."

Asked by the policeman present at the reenactment what he did next, Ron replied: "I panicked… I went crazy… I hugged her, I kissed her, told her I'm sorry, tried massaging her chest, but she was completely lifeless."

He added: "I saw that her neck was broken. I thought of jumping off a cliff myself, slamming my car against a wall. I thought about killing myself."

Afterwards Ron placed Rose's body inside the suitcase in the trunk of the car, drove from Netanya to Tel Aviv and threw the bag into the river.

When asked by a policeman why he did not take Rose to a hospital, Ron replied: "I thought of taking her, but she was already gone. I could see I finished her off in a split second."
