Outposts demolished, Palestinian fields torched

Settlers respond to evacuation of buildings, demolition of caravan in illegal West Bank outposts by setting fire to fields near Yitzhar. Palestinians report of injuries from stone throwing in Hawara

Security forces on Monday evacuated a number of buildings from illegal West Bank outposts, and the settlers quickly responded by torching Palestinian fields in the area.

Civil Administration officials and Border Guard forces arrived at the outpost of Adi-Ad on Monday morning and destroyed a caravan. They later demolished two sheds in the Nofei Yarden outposts and two containers in Mitzpe Danny.

In response, the settlers set their "price tag" policy in motion, setting fire to Palestinians' fields in the villages of Burin and Asira al-Kabaliya in the Yitzhar area.

Firefighters were dispatched to the area to put out the fire.

Palestinians reported that two people were injured from stones hurled by settlers at residents and vehicles near the Hawara checkpoint, in the Nablus area.

A Palestinian photojournalist who arrived to cover the event said he was beaten by settlers. Talking to Ynet, Jaafar Shatiya said a settler had attacked him and ordered him not to take any pictures. "He kept on pushing me and hitting me with his leg," he said.

No arson suspects have been arrested so far, but a Border Guard force detained two settlers for questioning on suspicion of blocking the route near Hawara together with a group of right-wing activists.
