Qassam falls in Negev

Shaar HaNegev residents awakened by rocket alert early Saturday morning, no injuries reported

Residents of the Negev received a rude awakening early Saturday morning by a Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip, which fell in open spaces in Shaar HaNegev Regional Council.

The Color Red alert was sounded, and no injuries or damage were reported. Residents reported a loud blast that sounded in the area.

On Thursday Air Force jets attacked a weapons lab and two smuggling tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip, in response to the Qassam fire that had taken place on Wednesday.

The IDF said pilots had reported direct hits, and that they had returned to base unharmed. The Palestinians reported three injuries.

Since the termination of Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in the beginning of this year there have been a number of cases of rocket fire and attempts to lay explosive devices near the border fence.

Last week two rockets were fired towards Israel. Both fell in open spaces, causing no injuries or damage.
