177 minors orphaned due to domestic violence in Israel

The State pays a "violence allowance" of about NIS 3,000 (about $790) to 177 orphans whose parents were murdered in domestic violence incidents, according to National Insurance Institute figures published Tuesday in honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Director General of the National Insurance Institute Esther Dominissini said, "This is a group of children who were orphaned by tragic events and were disconnected from both their parents. The allowance is paid in addition to the standard dependents allowance, and helps the children meet their daily needs." (Yael Branovsky)
