An Islamic Jihad member was killed Wednesday afternoon from IDF fire near the Jabalya refugee camp, Palestinian sources reported. The army confirmed that its forces had fired at two suspects approaching the border fence near the northern Gaza Strip.
According to the Palestinians, the dead man was a 20-year-old member of the al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad's military wing. They said the shell miraculously missed the home of a Palestinian family nearby.
Earlier Wednesday, a mortar shell fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in an open area near a kibbutz in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Five mortar shells were fired at the Eshkol Regional Council on Monday. Two of them exploded in an open area without causing any injuries or damage. The rest of the mortars landed on Palestinian territory. Three mortar shells were fired into Israel on Sunday.
