While it seems the jet fuel crisis crippling Israel's air traffic is nearing its end, El Al Airlines is not taking any chance: According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the company sent two of its Boeing planes – a 747 and a 777 – to Cyprus, with the sole purpose of having them carry full tanks of jet fuel back to Israel.
Once back, the supply was used to fuel El Al's smaller planes, in order to facilitate direct short and mid-range flights to European destinations.

El Al also instructed all planes returning from Europe and Cyprus to refuel en route, so the company could reallocate the fuel as needed.
The move enabled hundreds of tons of jet fuel to arrive in Israel and according to El Al, has significantly alleviated its passengers' plight.
Meanwhile, Paz Aviation Assets – Ben Gurion International Airport jet fuel provider – announced Sunday that its reserves have been found up to code and that the airport's fueling terminal will soon be fully operational again.
The material which caused the fuel contamination has yet to be identified.
