Gaza: 3 PRC operatives killed in blast

Four more people wounded in explosion in Rafah training facility belonging to Popular Resistance Committees. IDF says army wasn't operating in area

Three Palestinians were killed Tuesday in an explosion at a training facility of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) in the southern Gaza strip, eye witnesses and medical elements reported. Four more people were hurt in what appeared to be a work accident. The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said the army was not operating in the area.

The three casualties were operatives in the PRC's military wing. The group is one of the three organizations that took part in the abduction of Gilad Shalit.

According to the Palestinian news agency Ma'an, PRC spokesman Abu Mujahid confirmed that three of the group's operatives had died and that four others were injured following the blast in the Abu Atiya refugee camp. The wounded and the victims' bodies were taken a hospital in Rafah.

Gaza's rescue services spokesman told French news agency AFP that the training facility was located in Tel el-Sultan in Rafah. Eye witnesses and medical elements said that last October 13 Palestinians were hurt in an explosion at a Hamas building in Tel el-Sultan.

Terrorists nabbed in Jenin

The IDF arrested 12 Islamic Jihad operatives in the Jenin area and closed down some offices affiliates with the group overnight Tuesday. The special operation was part of efforts to hurt the organization's terror infrastructure in the area.

The IDF said that army forces did not meet any particular resistance, whereas Palestinians reported that some men tried to confront the army and were dispersed with shock grenades.

As part of the operation, the forces also closed down the offices of a charity group in Jenin which transferred funds for terrorist activity. The Al-Bara'ah foundation has ties with the Islamic Jihad and a Gaza group which are both considered illegal organizations working to hurt Israeli citizens.
