Teens caught on security camera

Jewish, Arab teens stone buses

Group of boys suspected of damaging dozens of buses, injuring bus driver in Jaffa

Wrong kind of coexistence: Police arrested 10 Jewish and Arab teens aged 13-16 on Monday on suspicion of hurling stones at city buses in Jaffa.

Over the past two years, numerous Dan Bus Company drivers have described the same scenario; a group of boys would approach a bus from one of Jaffa's side streets and throw rocks in the vehicle's direction before fleeing the scene.

Video that led to arrests

Due to the multitude of reports filed with Dan's security department, the police's Youth Branch launched an investigation. Meanwhile, the company installed security cameras on the buses.

Undercover detectives collected evidence on Jaffa streets for weeks before one group of teens made a critical mistake. Unaware of the cameras that documented their every move, the boys boarded a bus, confronted the driver and then proceeded to pelt him with stones. The images led to their arrest.

Most of the suspects, both Jewish and Arab, admitted to the crime. Their parents were summoned and informed of their kids' actions. The case was transferred to the police's Prosecution Branch, which is expected to press charges.
