Likud source: PM feared Lieberman would joint Olmert, Livni
A senior Likud official estimated that the decision to run a united Likud-Yisrael Beiteinu list was made out of Netanyahu's fear that Lieberman would prefer to join other politicians after the elections, and therefore opted for the union.

"Netanyahu saw that Olmert and Livni can turn into a forceful political authority that could lead to cooperation with Lieberman and so agreed to the union," the senior official said. (Yuval Karni)
