Gantz: IDF is ready for confrontation but isn't bloodthirsty

Responding to criticism over a video showing troops fleeing a group of Palestinians in the West Bank, IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz said that the army "is ready to deal with any confrontation that it is faced with, but we are not bloodthirsty."

Gantz, who made the statements during a Hanukkah event, added that "unfortunately people who aren't terror operatives were killed in the Gaza operation." He said that the army will continue making efforts to avoid civilian casualties, but "won't be deterred from doing so" under extreme circumstances. (Neri Brenner)
