Israel's UN envoy: Settlements never hindered peace

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Ron Prosor criticized the condemnation by a few members of the Security Council of Israeli construction in the West Bank. "Just this week Assad fired Scud missiles at his citizens, but the Security Council members chose to focus on the approval of building plans in Jerusalem," he said.

"The settlements were never the main obstacle to peace," Prosor added. "The real obstacles are the demand to return Palestinian (refugees), their refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state and the continued terror and incitement against Israel." (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
