Lebanese airport officials say the international envoy for Syria's civil war has arrived in Beirut and will travel by land to Damascus to meet with the country's president.
The officials said Lakhdar Brahimi would travel to the Syrian capital by land because of fighting near its airport. He is to meet with President Bashar Assad to discuss the 21-month-old crisis. Brahimi did not
speak publically upon his arrival in Beirut Sunday. (AP)
