Israel and Spain have agreed to form a joint team that would see Israeli port security technology implemented in Spain, Ynet learned Wednesday.
Spain's Minister for Development Ana Pastor visited Ashdod Port Tuesday following a similar visit to Spain by Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz.

The Ashdod Port is one of Israel's main maritime trade routes. Pastor said she intends on forming special teams that will learn about – and eventually implement – Israeli security protocols and technology.
The port's gateway security system is considers one of the most advanced in the world and incorporates various container identification algorithms and biometric systems.
"A collaboration with the ports of Spain will promote the development of strategic projects, which will help cement Ashdod Port's leading status among the maritime ports of the Middle East," Gideon Siterman, chairman of the Ashdod Port's board of directors, said in a statemen.
Spain, he continued, "Is known for leading the development of modern transportation systems and infrastructure. I hope this mutual cooperation will be beneficial for both the port and the State."
