Bus bomb wounds 7 people in southern Philippines

Philippine police say a powerful bomb has exploded in a passenger bus and wounded at least seven people in the country's south in an attack by suspected extortion gangs.

Police Chief Superintendent Rolen Balquin says the homemade bomb exploded in the rear portion of the bus as it traveled late Saturday in Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat province. The blast damaged the bus and sparked a brief fire, but did not injure anyone aboard the vehicle. (AP)
