France: Algeria, US supportive of Mali operation

Algeria has allowed France full use of its air space in its military intervention against Islamist rebels in Mali and is ready to seal its border if the conflict moves north, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Sunday. Algeria, which shares a border with Mali, has worried that an offensive could push militants into southern Algeria and trigger a refugee crisis.

He also said that the United States was providing communications and transport help for the international military intervention aimed at wresting Mali's north out of the hands of Islamist extremists. (News Agencies)
