IMF says aims for agreement on possible Egypt aid

The International Monetary Fund said on Sunday it would continue talks with Egypt in the coming weeks aimed at agreeing possible financial aid for the country, which is struggling with a budget and currency crisis.

"We agreed that our discussions would continue diligently over the coming weeks with the aim of reaching agreement on possible financial support from the IMF," Masood Ahmed, Director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department, said in a statement after talks with Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil.
