Supermodel teams up with more than 20 Israeli celebrities in video backing Yesh Atid's proposed law
The viral video features more than 20 notable Israeli celebrities, asking them the question: "Why do you support the civil marriage bill?"Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli is perhaps the best-known celebrity included, at least internationally.
"Because a loving family is the most important thing," Refaeli says in the video in answer to the proposed question.
Yesh Atid’s civil marriage bill, submitted October 29, seeks to permit marriages that are not conducted by the rabbinical courts to still be recognized legally and afforded full rights.
"Because it doesn’t make sense to fly out of the country to get married," TV personality Yaron Brovinsky shared in the video.
Gal Uchovsky, an openly gay journalist, producer and screenwriter in Israel, stated "because I’m a married man and it’s time the state registered that."
The Knesset will be voting on the bill later this month.
