US sends more troops, aircraft to search for Kony

WASHINGTON - The US is sending military aircraft as well as an increased number of special operations forces to Uganda to assist in the search for fugitive African warlord Joseph Kony.

The White House confirmed early Monday the US is sending "a limited number" of CV-22 Osprey, refueling aircraft and "associated support personnel" to assist local forces in their long-running battle against Kony's Lord's Resistance Army, or LRA. President Barack Obama sent about 100 U.S. troops to help the African forces in 2011. (AP)
