Russia to abide by arms reduction treaty with US

MOSCOW - Russia will abide by a 2010 strategic arms reduction treaty with the United States despite their differences over the crisis in Ukraine, RIA news agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying on Tuesday.

Russian news agencies quoted a source in March as saying the Defence Ministry was studying the possibility of suspending on-site inspections under the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) between Moscow and Washington.

But Ryabkov told RIA: "There are no reasons today not to fulfil the treaty." (Reuters)
