Aharonovich on Olmert's sentence: Sad, but battle against corruption is of utmost importance
Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovich responded to the jail sentence handed down to former prime minister Ehud Olmert, and said "this is a sad and difficult day for the State of Israel, and obviously for him," he said of Olmert.

"Nonetheless, the battle against public corruption is of the utmost importance."

Speaking at a conference on internal security in Jerusalem, Aharonovich also expressed his support of law enforcement, saying "I unequivocally support the police in their attempt to quell corruption in the public service, at any level." (Omri Efraim)
