DNA helps solve 9-year-old rape-murder case


The 2005 rape and murder case of Rinat Roas from Ashdod has been solved with the help of DNA evidence and the main suspect has been arrested, it was cleared for publication Monday.


The 20-year-old girl's suspected murderer is Bilal Shakar from the village of Bu'eine Nujeidat in the north. Shakar was arrested after being involved in a scuffle and DNA collected from him at the time of the arrest led back to physical evidence collected at the time of the rape and murder. He denies the allegations and an indictment is expected later Monday. (Matan Tzuri)
