Data from the Israel Airport Authority show that 489 international flights are transitioning through Israel on Thursday making it the busiest day of the year for Ben Gurion Airport.
Greece is the country country to which Israelis most frequently travel and has, over the last few years, seen a significant increase in the number of visits. Turkey takes second place for the most frequently visited destination by Israelis—particularly as a transit point—while the US, Italy and Germany follow behind respectively.
Airport Authority figures for the record-breaking year show that this summer alone some 2 million passengers have passed though Israel, marking a 6% increase compared to last summer.
